This or That: Writing Edition

A fun little game of This or That, except it’s the Writer’s Edition! I thought this would be fun to sharing my reading and writing habits with you all. What would be your picks? Let me know in the comments.

Pen πŸ–ŠοΈ or Pencil ✏️

Pen. I used to love pencils as a child but as an adult I tend to use pens now 99% of the time.

Notebook πŸ““ or Laptop πŸ’»

I’m old school, give me a pen and a paper!

Fiction πŸ¦„ or Nonfiction πŸ“°

Fiction! My favorite genre (mentioned below) reflects this answer too.

Short Story πŸ‡ or Novel 🐒

I can read both, but I prefer novels. Full length stories have always been my jam.

First Person πŸ‘€ or Third Person πŸ‘€

First person. I love reading and writing through one person’s point-of-view.

Morning Writing β˜€οΈ or Night Writing πŸŒ™

Even though I’m a night owl, I prefer to write in the morning. I feel my head is a bit clearer then.

Writing at a Desk πŸͺ‘ or Writing Outdoors 🌳

Writing at my desk. I am too easily distracted by things outdoors to write in that atmosphere, lol.

Writing Alone πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» or Writing in a Group πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

It’s nothing personal, I’ve just always been a solo writer. I get more writing done that way.

Editing as You Go βœ‚οΈ or Editing After Finishing πŸŽ‰

I do both. To make easier on my future self I try to edit as I go to make the whole writing process smoother.

Writing with Music 🎢 or Writing in Silence 🀫

Music! I’ve recently got into Lofi in the past couple of years. I love how calming it is and how it provides a good ambiance to any room you listen in. They’ve been really helpful for background music for blog writing (writing in general), cleaning up, studying, or working.Β

Writing for Fun 🎈 or Writing for Publication πŸ†

I actually enjoy both. But for this answer I’ll lean over to writing for fun. It allows me to be whimsical and very creative.

Fantasy πŸ‰ or Realism πŸ™οΈ

It’s my favorite genre of books to read and I love getting lost in other worlds.

Writing Letters πŸ’Œ or Writing Journals πŸ“”

Though people may think snail mail is outdated, I feel the opposite. Snail mail has not only made its resurgence but also become even more significant. It’s another outlet to share our feelings during this difficult time and one way to bring each other closer.
