Summer is coming to an end and it has been such a whirlwind over these past couple months. Outside of working on my sophomore novel and vending at a couple of local book events, I got to have a lot of bookish adventures this summer. Here are some of my highlights.
Detroit Book Festival
The Detroit Festival of Books is always a great time! It is the largest book festival in the State of Michigan. It was such a fun time running into friends/familiar vendors at tables as well as discovering new to me authors. It was a hot day, but I’m glad I got there early to beat the crowds. I found some great books to add to my TBR piles.
Reading Day at The Park
I went to a reading in the park event hosted by an art creator and it was the best day of reading, relaxing, and good conversation. The beautiful weather paired with the Detroit Riverfront on a sunny day was the best!
Visiting a New Bookstore
I went to a community craft event and also visited Purrfiction Detroit for the first time. The bookstore is also a community hub it’s a community hub you can find your next read and adopt cats too. They have a cozy ambiance and a variety of book titles at inexpensive prices (along with book themed gifts too!).
Blind Date with a Book
I attended the Curious at Crossroads Fest and while purusing the spooky goods for sale I came upon these books for sale. At $2 per book it was impossible to pass on this offer and I snagged two Blind Date with a Book picks. Both authors ended up being something I wouldn’t normally seek out out, but I am excited to read them as they are both themed around genres I enjoy reading (thrillers and horror).
Shopping at 27th Letter Books
It’s always a good day to go book shopping in Detroit! I stopped by 27th Letter Books to see what was new and treated myself to a new book. I got a used copy of Never Whistle at Night which is a A collection of eerie tales from Indigenous authors, exploring supernatural beliefs and the consequences of whistling at night.
